SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANTS (x2) (Full Time)  

Working a 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern (9.00am to 9.00pm); main duties will include: 

• Preparation of food samples for analysis.
• Microbiological analysis of food and swab samples for routine tests and pathogens (Salmonella and Listeria).
• Entering data on ELMS.
  

You Should Possess:

• The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
• A flexible approach.
  

Full training will be provided but previous relevant experience would be an advantage. 

MICROBIOLOGIST (Part Time) 

This will be a 12 month temporary appointment to cover maternity leave, 15 – 20 hours per week, mornings, Monday to Friday. Main duties will include: 

• Reading, calculation, confirmation and assessment of results from microbiological tests.
• Entering data on ELMS.
  

You should possess:

• Experience in a microbiology laboratory or equivalent.
• Relevant qualifications would be desirable.
• Excellent communication skills will also be required as the post holder will be expected to liaise with senior management on a daily basis.

TEMPORARY INTERNAL VACANCY 
Chatteris Laboratory

Trainee Administrator 

Employed by the Customer Support Unit, and based at Chatteris site. This will be a 6 month temporary appointment to cover Maternity Leave.  

This position is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9 am – 6 pm.) 

Main duties will include: 

• Answering Telephones
• Preparing external Mail - franking, and dealing with internal mail.
• Faxing, Emailing and posting of all Certificates of Analysis.
• Filing (electronic and hard copies)
• Assisting Customer Support Administrators in daily duties
  

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills: 

• Good telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively and articulately with Customers, Laboratories and Senior Management.
• Ability to prioritise workload and deal with all queries quickly and efficiently.
• Attention to detail essential and experience of working in a busy administrative environment would be an advantage, but not essential.
• Must be computer literate.
• GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths essential.

We currently have a number of full time permanent vacancies in the microbiology laboratory at Ashford for Scientific Assistants to work in either the water or food testing sections.

Working a 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern (09.00am to 9.00pm); main duties will include but are not restricted to: 

• Preparation of food or water samples for analysis.
• Microbiological analysis of food and swab samples for routine tests and pathogens (Salmonella and Listeria).
• Microbiological analysis of water samples for routine tests and Legionella.
• Entering data on ELMS.
  

Full training will be provided but previous relevant experience would be an advantage. 

Eclipse Scientific Group is one of the UK’s leading independent analysis and consultancy service providers.  Due to business expansion, we have the following vacancies at our laboratory in Chatteris: 

Technical Assistant 

Our technicians work in teams carrying out microbiological and chemical analysis of feed, food and water samples.  In addition to a variety of technical analytical duties they also enter laboratory results on to our computerised system.

The current positions are for Evenings, Monday to Friday, hours ranging from 3pm to 8pm, 4pm to 9pm & 5pm to 10pm.  Vacancies exist for both our Sample Receipt Department and laboratory.

The successful candidates will be good team players with excellent attention to detail, basic computer skills and the ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and to tight deadlines.  Relevant qualifications or experience would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
