DATA EXCHANGE FACILITIES
We offer a number of means for the receipt of
sample data. Apart from the well-established routes of certificates
being posted or faxed, we can email the results as attachments in
a variety of text document or spreadsheet formats. Results that
may demand instant action can be telephoned through to a nominated
contact.
Increasingly, data are being communicated by electronic
means and we offer our customers a choice of methods for the receipt
of sample data and the provision of analytical results. Direct transfer
of data from customers to ESG and vice versa using our new LIMS
(Laboratory Information Management System) eliminates transcription
errors from paperwork.
We are also actively developing additional options
that will enable more direct access to data in our LIMS
Customer Specifications
We are able to include customer specifications
within our LIMS. This ensures that any results entered are checked
against both our in-house method/performance limits and any applicable
customer limits and the analyst is immediately alerted to any unusual
results. These limits, which relate to individual test values, can
apply to all samples or to particular products or a combination.
Any of the options below can be configured to
enable Out of Specification results to be sent separately from final
results. This ensures that customers are informed straightaway of
any samples that do not meet their specifications.
Sample Receipt
Excel Spreadsheet
Format
We can accept sample details in an Excel spreadsheet that conforms
to a predefined format. This enables direct entry of samples onto
our LIMS and avoids transcription errors from paperwork. This is
compatible with Microsoft Excel 97, 2000 and XP.
CSV (Comma Separated
Value) Format
We can accept sample details in CSV format that conforms to a predefined
layout. This enables direct entry of samples onto our LIMS and avoids
transcription errors from paperwork. If using this method, it is
important to ensure that any details such as sample description
do not contain commas. As a result, our preference is for
the Excel format.
Web Access
We will shortly be able to offer the facility to book in samples
directly using the web. This will enable data to be entered onto
our LIMS without any subsequent transcription steps thus ensuring
no errors from re-keying of data. Data is also validated at the
point of entry to ensure that only valid entries are accepted.
Analytical Results
Excel spreadsheet
by e-mail
We can provide results in a spreadsheet format that allows easy
analysis and review of data from multiple samples. The version is
compatible with Microsoft Excel 97, 2000 and XP.
Adobe Acrobat PDF
by e-mail
We can provide copies of our Analytical Test Certificates in Adobe
Acrobat PDF format. This is a universal format that ensures data
and layout remains the same regardless of the system being used
to view the report. The viewer is freely downloadable from the Adobe
web site.
CSV by e-mail
We can send analytical results in a CSV format that conforms to
a predefined layout. This enables direct export of data from our
LIMS and avoids transcription errors from paperwork. If using this
method, it is important to ensure that any details such as sample
description do not contain commas. As a result, our preference
is for the Excel format.
Web Access
We are developing systems to allow direct, secure access to results
via the web allowing trending of data and up to date viewing of
results.
